Joining the workforce right after college is a huge transition. Sharing that some habits that help build a professional environment.

Every employee, regardless of role or title, influences how customers, colleagues, and communities perceive their organization. Brand stewardship means protecting, strengthening, and representing the brand through everyday actions. It is not limited to marketing—it lives in habits, choices, communication, and consistency.

Let us look at how one can develop this trait

  1. Start from the top: Understand the company’s mission, values, tone, and customer promise. Represent them consistently.
  2. Understand the products & services: Visit the company website, understand their products & service offerings and how you & your role fit into the picture.
  3. Observe: Listen & observe the tone of the organization, management & leadership to appreciate how they envision the organization to grow, and figure out where you & your work play a role in it.
  4. Personalize: If you were to represent this organization, think about the skills, competencies, knowledge, business acumen that you would need to embody. Build your skillset towards it.
  5. Engage: Engage with your team, and larger organization to understand different projects, views and work that is happening across groups. Work your way from engaging with internal teams to external teams (clients, managers, vendors, partners etc.)

Employees who embody these qualities in the way they work & show up at work usually tend to exhibit these traits

Brand awareness is knowing what the company stands for; brand stewardship is showing it through how you work every day.
