What is a coral reef?

A coral reef is made up of thousands of tiny animals called coral polyps. These tiny animal polyps and algae have grown together to create a large structure called a coral reef. This coral reef is home for thousands of species of plants and animals.

Snorkeling in the deep waters, beautiful views of the coral reefs fill our hea-rts with wonder!

While these coral reefs protect marine diversity, it is up to us to protect them!

Fish, corals, lobsters, clams, seahorses, sponges, and sea turtles are only a few of the thousands of creatures that rely on reefs for their survival.

Coral reefs are blessed by a beautiful sunshine 🙂

This underwater ecosystem is formed of colonies of coral polyps held together by calcium carbonate. Sometimes called rainforests of the sea, shallow coral reefs form some of Earth’s most diverse ecosystems.
