Few years back when we were going through health issues, a friend suggested some Feng shui corrections and it helped! After that my belief in simple changes in our surroundings triggering larger changes in our lives seems to be making sense!
Feng shui, is a pseudoscientific traditional practice originating from ancient China, uses energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment.
The bagua is the feng shui energy map. .Look at your home as a square/rectangle and divide it into 9 segments – like the ones below. Each quadrant has an effect on one aspect of our lives.
Identify the area where we are facing an issue in our lives. Figure out the quadrant that belongs to in the picture above. Check if that area of the home or office is cluttered or has heavy objects. Usually for major challenges one of the above two would be an issue. De-cluttering the place and removing the heavy objects from there removes the challenges in that area of life.
For smaller issues (read it as not a major life event), check if the color of paint on the walls can be changed, pictures or objects that correspond to the appropriate elements can be placed etc. Changing the decor, curtains, tapestries, vases, pictures etc and making them align to the elements of the quadrant helps reduce issues in those fronts of life.
One of my friends reminded me recently and I was surprised to see a huge ping pong table occupying that corner of the home 🙂
Typically, the front door is the one that we usually enter the home. Some of us enter our homes through the garage or side entrance more often than the main entrance. In those cases, consider the side entrance as the main entrance and try to map the quadrants. You will see the issues and corrections needed clearly!
While Feng shui is a science and an art and needs a lot of skill to get the predictions and corrections perfectly, as an amateur – using this grid seems to help for most part. If you are still not able to figure it out, do seek help from a Feng shui consultant!
