Before the Kurukshetra war started, Krishna knew that he would need to share the discourse of Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna soon, and wanted to test if Arjuna was ready.
So, he took him to a forest and they chatted along the way. Arjuna was nervous about the upcoming war, and still was engaged in conversation with Krishna. His mind was filled with thoughts about the war & its consequences. The courage he once had, was tilting towards nervousness.
While walking, Krishna pointed him to a bird on the tree and said, “Arjuna, look at that beautiful peacock!”. Arjuna saw the bird and said, “Yes Krishna! The peacock looks beautiful!”.
Krishna scolded Arjuna and said, “Oh Arjuna! Look carefully… it is not a peacock, but an eagle!”. Arjuna looks at the bird and replied, “Yes Krishna! It is an eagle”.
Krishna pretended to be angry and said, “Really? You cannot see it is actually a pigeon, not an eagle!”. This time Arjuna did not even look at the bird, and said “Yes Krishna! You are absolutely right. It is a pigeon indeed!”.
Krishna asked Arjuna, “Arjuna! You did not even look at the bird this time, and yet agreed that it was a pigeon! Are you blindly agreeing to whatever I am saying? Do you not have any common sense to look at affirm by yourself?”
Arjuna patiently replied, “Krishna! If I say it is not a peacock, you will change it into a peacock. If I say it is not an eagle or pigeon, you will change it into an eagle or pigeon. I know you can do anything. Your word is important to me. When you say something, I will accept it no matter what, because I trust you, and have faith in you.”
Krishna blessed him, and thought to himself that Arjuna was ready to receive the knowledge imparted in the Bhagavad Gita.
When we question, we lose our ability to take the leap of faith! Some learnings in life, and some bridges of life can be crossed only through blessings & leap of faith.
Whose words do you believe in, unconditionally? They would be the ones who lead you to your next teacher.
In this context, Mata (Mother) -> Pita (Father) -> Guru (Teacher) -> Deivam (God) fits perfectly.
