Every festival brings with it blessings, and memories of how we celebrated it during our childhood!
Sharing it with our children, continues the traditions!

Before the sun peeks through the skies,
Mom whispers, “It’s time to rise!”
The temple bells begin to ring,
And joy to every home they bring.
“Has Ganga snanam over yet?”
Neighbor asks, her hair still wet.
My brother sighs, “Not the oil bath again!”
Mom scolds and explains, “It washes away our troubles.”
The sesame oil fragrance in the air,
The glow of lamps is everywhere.
New silk clothes, so bright and great,
Waiting in the cupboard till date.
Murukku, pongal, Mysorepak & sweets in line,
Banana leaves and lamps that shine.
A prayer, a smile, and fireworks time,
Traditions old, yet they are mine.
“Did you do this when you were young?”
I asked, watching everyone having fun.
Mom smiles, “Each year, my dear,
We start afresh with love and cheer.”
For Diwali’s light will always stay,
In hearts that glow and homes that pray.
And every year, both near and far,
Family shines — our brightest star.
Wishing all of you Happy Diwali 🙏🏻
