Taste of Devotion

Have you ever been an ardent devotee? If yes, read along…

There comes this phase of life when devotion moves us, gives us hope, gives our lives meaning & purpose, and a complete sense of satisfaction, humility and gratitude. Only and only those who have completely immersed themselves in devotion would have felt it.

At the back of your mind is always a positive thought, whoever you are spiritually aligned to, the related music, related food, related festivities and everything happens in a flow.

You just glide away in those moments holding on to those thoughts. It becomes the pillar that you lean in on, you hang on to, and one that holds you firmly to the ground.

For some of us that phase lasts a lifetime, for some of us it lasts a few years, for rest of us it comes and goes like glimmers of time capsules.

I recently read the way Radha feels when Krishna leaves her at Vrindavan. I was moved to tears. What a beautiful explanation of the feeling, actually feelings… in such detail.

Anyone who has felt life pulls us back from those intense moments back into the primary purpose of our lives, while we tend to our parents, in laws, children, spouses, friends, colleagues…. and a long list, where our Karma Yoga becomes active again, and we continue to live our days fulfilling what we came here to fulfill, the below lines are for you.

Blessed are the times when we were able to enjoy Bhakti Yoga, the immense pleasure of thinking about Him, with joy & devotion, without expecting anything but happy to feel the pure joy within. Then, Krishna lived in our devotion & thoughts.

Blessed are those times when we could sit and meditate peacefully – Dhyana Yoga, let go of unwanted thoughts and learn to be present in the moment, and feel the peace within. Then, Krishna guided our meditative zone.

Blessed are those times when we could pay homage to all the Rishis who have written Vedic scriptures, that we are blessed to read and gain knowledge that has been passed across generations. Then, Krishna guided our Gnana Yoga, helping us read, discuss, learn and gain knowledge & wisdom.

Blessed are these times, when we immerse ourselves into the Karma Yoga that we are born to fulfill, where He walks with us, helping & guiding us fulfill our duties with equal happiness, bringing us the right people into our lives who can help us move an inch further from where we are. While we are in motion and seldom get to reflect in this phase, when we end up doing so, we realize the people in our lives and their involvement has changed, our duties towards them have changed, our expectations from them have changed, and we have learned to gracefully let go, learned to detach ourselves from the outcome, learning the true sense of Vairagya.

Then, and Now, our knowledge, thoughts & actions and the space in between are filled with Him. He is the One behind all of them. He is the one choosing when we are ready for any of them, a little bit of Bhakti Yoga, a bit of Dhyana Yoga, a bit of Gnana Yoga, and then back to Karma Yoga.

…And life continues, and we continue to learn and evolve.
