How many generations of your ancestors do you know? How many can you name?
Mahalaya Amavasya is a timeframe in Hindu calendar when we remember our ancestors and seek their blessings. Every culture has some rituals during Sep-Nov timeframe that remembers their ancestors and offer food to them.
Aa simple activity for children across cultures that helps remember our ancestors, goes a long way!
Do you know the names of your grandparents? Maternal and Paternal? If yes, great 🙂 If you do not, ask your parents and find it out.
Do you know the names of your great grand parents?
How about your great great grand parents?
What do you know about them? Where did they grow up? How did they choose to live their lives? Have you seen their pictures?

Spend some time and ask your family and relatives to share something about your ancestors. What was unique about them? Their traits, talents, mannerisms, profession, hobbies, attitude. You would have some of these in you.
Think about your ancestors, remember them and talk about them, share their stories, offer food to hungry people! Their blessings will follow naturally.
There is an old saying that goes like this…
You have lived a good life if you remember five generations of your ancestors and share their stories with five generations of your descendants!
A very good, necessary message for everyone.👌👌👍
Thank you Padmaja 🙂 Glad it resonates!
