There are 3 types of gunas (characteristics). They are Sattva, Tamas and Rajas.
There are 3 types of doshas. They are Vata, Pitta, Kapha
Gunas/Doshas | Vata | Pitta | Kapha |
Sattva | Clarity and Lightness | Knowledge and Understanding | Forgiveness and love |
Tamas | Mostly confusion | Aggressiveness and competitiveness | Heavy, dull and sleepy |
Rajas | Active | Hyper | Insomnia |
Now, foods can be classified as Vata, Pitta and Kapha as well. Dietary changes can help change your state of mind and health!
- For someone who suffers from insomnia, it would be easy to trigger sleep if they ate some Tamas food.
- For someone who is confused, eating some sattvic food would help
- You get the gist…! Use the appropriate foods to promote the feelings and health and correct your doshas or weaknesses by choosing a different type of food!
